MEDEZE Joins Forces with the Government Pharmaceutical Organization and Cretan Associates Establishes “GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd.” with Registered Capital of THB 105 Million Elevating Thailand’s Biomedical Industry Toward Becoming a Regional ATMPs Production Hub
MEDEZE, in collaboration with the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) and Cretan Associates Co., Ltd., has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd. with initial registered capital of THB 105 million. The joint venture aims to develop a manufacturing facility for Cell Culture Media and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
The initiative is designed to reduce reliance on imported raw materials, support research and production of biopharmaceutical products, and drive Thailand toward becoming a Biopharma and Medical Innovation Hub in Asia. In addition, GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd. aims to further develop into a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) for biopharmaceutical products, supporting research and development by universities, hospitals, researchers, and biotechnology companies both in Thailand and overseas.
The project also targets a reduction in production and cell therapy treatment costs by approximately 30–50%, thereby increasing public access to high-quality medical innovations that meet international standards.

Dr. Somruek Chungsaman, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, stated that he was pleased to preside over the signing ceremony for the establishment of GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd., which represents another important milestone in public-private collaboration to advance Thailand’s high-technology medical industry.
Thailand has long been internationally recognized as a Medical Hub, supported by the capabilities of its medical professionals, the quality of its healthcare institutions, and the confidence of patients both domestically and internationally. However, the next key objective is to elevate Thailand from being a country known for quality healthcare services to one capable of creating knowledge, developing technology, and owning its own medical innovations.
One of the most important technologies of the future is Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products, or ATMPs, which cover cell therapy, gene therapy, and biotechnology. These innovations are transforming disease treatment approaches around the world.
ATMPs are not merely medical innovations; they represent a major opportunity for Thailand to strengthen health security, reduce dependence on foreign technologies, and enhance national competitiveness. Investment in advanced medical technologies today is an investment in the future and a foundation for Thailand to become a true Medical Innovation Hub.
Dr. Somruek also congratulated and commended all executives and teams involved, including the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, a key agency responsible for national medicine and healthcare security; MEDEZE Group Public Company Limited, a Thai organization committed to developing cell and biotechnology capabilities to international standards; and Cretan Associates Co., Ltd., which has joined the collaboration to support the connection and expansion of Thai innovation potential. This partnership demonstrates that when the public and private sectors join forces, they can create new initiatives that benefit not only organizations but also the public and the future of the country.
Dr. Mingkwan Suphanpong, Director of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), added that the GPO has an important mission to continuously strengthen Thailand’s security in medicines, medical supplies, and public healthcare systems. Its goal is not only to ensure public access to quality medical products but also to enhance Thailand’s long-term ability to become self-reliant in healthcare technology.
As the world moves toward modern medicine, biotechnology and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) are playing an increasingly important role in the future of disease treatment. This collaboration between the GPO, MEDEZE, and Cretan Associates therefore marks another significant step in advancing Thailand’s capabilities from pharmaceutical manufacturing expertise toward the development of biotechnology and future medical innovations.
The integration of public- and private-sector strengths will help build Thailand’s biotechnology ecosystem, covering development, production, and practical application. Every product developed under this collaboration must undergo assessment and certification by the Government Pharmaceutical Organization at every stage to ensure quality, safety, and efficacy in accordance with required standards before being delivered for use in the national public health system.
This will help elevate Thailand’s medical standards, reduce reliance on foreign technologies, and provide Thai people with greater access to advanced medical innovations. This collaboration is therefore not merely about establishing a new organization, but about laying an important foundation for the future healthcare industry and supporting Thailand’s ambition to become a regional Medical Innovation Hub.
Dr. Veerapol Khemarangsan, Chief Executive Officer of MEDEZE Group Public Company Limited (MEDEZE), stated that the Company has joined with the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) and Cretan Associates Co., Ltd. to sign a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd. with initial registered capital of THB 105 million.
The company will develop a manufacturing facility for Cell Culture Media under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Cell Culture Media is a key raw material for the Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) industry and serves as an essential foundation for cell therapy and precision medicine of the future. The project aims to reduce dependence on imported raw materials, strengthen medical supply chain security, and position Thailand as a biopharmaceutical production base in Asia.
The GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd. facility will focus on the production of Liquid Cell Culture Media, a key raw material for cell cultivation, under GMP-standard manufacturing processes. The planned production capacity is 150,000 liters per year, serving both domestic demand and exports to the Asian region. The project is expected to help reduce production and cell therapy treatment costs by approximately 30–50%, while reducing reliance on imported key raw materials, strengthening the medical supply chain, and supporting research, development, and domestic production of biopharmaceutical products.
Dr. Veerapol added that over the past 16 years, MEDEZE has been committed to developing knowledge, technology, personnel, and international standards to lay the foundation for Thailand’s cell technology and advanced medicine. The establishment of GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd. is not merely a business collaboration, but an important step in uniting the strengths of the public and private sectors to build an Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) ecosystem that Thailand can develop and expand through the capabilities of Thai people.
MEDEZE believes that the future of medicine lies in creating opportunities for patients to access precise, safe, and high-quality treatment innovations. The Company is committed to helping drive Thailand toward becoming a regional Medical Innovation Hub and proving that world-class medical innovations can be developed in Thailand.

“Thailand must not merely be a user of foreign technologies; it must become a creator of its own medical innovations,” Dr. Veerapol said.

Mr. Piyawat Ratchapolsit, Chief Executive Officer of Cretan Associates Co., Ltd., an investment and project development specialist, added that Cretan Associates’ participation in this collaboration is part of Heracle Capital’s investment strategy. Heracle Capital is a private equity fund focused on investments in healthcare and longevity businesses, with the objective of supporting high-potential Thai entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses across Southeast Asia.

“We believe that biotechnology and advanced medicine, particularly Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), will be among the key industries of the future, creating value in health, the economy, and national competitiveness. This collaboration to establish GPO MEDEZE Empower Co., Ltd. combines the strengths of each organization in knowledge, technology, standards, and networks to create new opportunities for Thai medical innovation to advance to international standards.”

“Heracle Capital is fully committed to supporting the growth of this project and sincerely hopes that this collaboration will mark another important step in elevating Thailand toward becoming a regional Biotechnology and Medical Innovation Hub in the future,” Mr. Piyawat said.
